Lady Gaga against Discrimination of Gays

Lady Gaga has been open about wanting to put an end of gay discrimination and told many people that she is a “child of diversity.” She sang a few bars of her popular song “Born This Way” at the gay pride rally that took place in the Circus Maximus.

Her “Born This Way” album recently sold 1M sales within just a week. Gaga delighted thousands of people during the brief concert on a big field where the Roman masses gather for many events.

She was wearing a green wig, played the piano and sang a few songs. But overall, she devoted her time mostly to express her denunciation of gay and transgender people intolerance and discrimination after an annual European gay pride parade. She cited several places such as Poland, Middle East, Lithuania and Russia.

She told the crowd that people have been asking her how gay she is and she often answers that she is a “child of diversity.” She said that her real name is Stefania Giovanna Angelina Germanotta which reflected her Italian heritage. She also told the fans that her costume was from the collection of Gianni Versace which comprises of a sleek black top with one shoulder bared and bulging plaid skirt.

She also expressed her opinion about young gay people that they have the tendency to commit “suicide, self-loathing and isolation.” What she did is indeed brave especially facing the sheer number of people who discriminates gay. The rally was preceded by a parade with colorful floats and marchers wearing bright costumes through the historic center of Rome. This event was part of the annual Europride which encourages gay rights.

Lady Gaga said the crowd inspired her for the “great courage” they have shown.

The organizers of Europride hoped that the event will attract attention to the discrimination that gays face from all over the world. Lady Gaga was invited by the U.S. ambassador personally to the rally. She said that she was honored to be part of the event.

The event organizers said that it is significant that they chose Rome as the venue since it is home to the Vatican which opposes the legislation of same-sex marriage or the acceptance of gay couples. The event was also to send a message across to Premier Silvio Berlusconi, who recently made it to tabloid when he was found to be a participant in a sex scandal involving a 17-year-old Moroccan prostitute to which he said that it is “better to be passionate about a beautiful girl than a gay.”

One Response to Lady Gaga

  • It’s good to hear her against gay discrimination. I am not gay but they shouldn’t be discriminated at all because they are still humans. There are even straight people that are worse then these homosexuals.
