Kevin Garnett is one of the most iconic basketball players of all time. He plays as a power forward. He has played with the Minnesota Timberwolves, and is now a member of the Boston Celtics team.

Garnett was born in South Carolina, and basketball has been a part of his life ever since middle school. However, he only started to play organized basketball in his highschool years. After his first three years at Mauldin High School, Kevin was involved in a serious altercation that led to his arrest. It is because of this incident that he decided to move to the Farragut Career Academy of Chicago, where he spent his fourth high school year, where he was immediately noticed for his abilities – USA Today even named him the best highschool player in the nation, and the whole State of Illinois named him “Mr. Basketball”. At 6 ft 11, this power forward was already beginning to resemble the great player that Garnett is today. After his performance with his team, he was drafted by the Minnesota Timberwolves (for which he would play for twelve years). He was the first player to be drafted straight from high school in fifteen years.

Over the years, Kevin Garnett has managed to gain numerous achievements. He was the NBA Champion in 2008, the National Basketball Association MVP in 2004, the DPY (the first defensive player in the NBA of that year), he was the MVP in the All Star match in 2003, he made the Second Team All-Rookie in 1996, and also made other teams: Second All-Defensive (in 2006 and 2007), First All-Defensive (from 2000 straight to 2005, and in 2008 and 2009), Third All-NBA (in 1999 and 2007), Second All-NBA (in 2001, 2002 and 2005), and the first team in the NBA (in 2000, 2003, 2004 and 2008), and has made the famous All-Star NBA (in 1997, 1998 and the whole 2000 decade, from 2000 right down to 2010). With this huge list of highlights in his career, it’s beyond any doubt that Garnett is a great player.

Height is an essential aspect of any professional basketball player, and celebrity basketball player Garnett is not weak in this area. He is listed as having 6 ft 11 in (roughly equivalent of 2.11 meters), but that measurement is at least fifteen years old, and any growth since then would place him over the 7 feet limit. His Minnesota team officially measured him at 7 ft 1 in back in 1997, when wearing his basketball shoes.

In his private life, Kevin Garnett has managed to stay out of the public eye as much as possible. He has avoided scandals and celebrity gossip throughout his career, and he didn’t even make the cover of tabloids. In 2004, he missed the Olympiad due to the fact that he married Brandi Padilla, his girlfriend of many years.

Today, Garnett is closing in on his thirty-fifth birthday, and despite moth athletes are looking for retirement plans at this age, Garnett is still going strong with the Boston Celtics.
