Acne Treatment

Use herbs to treat your acne

In this article we will discuss in a straightforward manner what causes acne and how to go about treating it with herbal acne treatments. No matter who you are the way you look is probably one of your highest priorities. The last thing you want is spots, blemishes, pimples or blackheads ruining your complexion. Whilst none of these skin complaints is life threatening at all they can be quite unsightly and may lead to embarrassment, self-consciousness and a lack of self-confidence.

Acne normally affects the face but in severe cases it can also affect the back, neck and chest, be very itchy or painfully inflamed and sometimes lead to infected skin too.

These types of skin complaints are very common and although they mainly affect people between the ages of 12 and 25, they can also affect younger and older people too. Acne is not discriminatory and contrary to the misguided belief of some, it is not caused through bad personal hygiene or poor diet. In some cases over washing can make acne worse and there has been no scientific evidence to suggest that chocolate, high fatty foods, junk foods or sweets have any affect on acne but more research is currently being carried out in this field.

So what causes acne?

Acne is caused either by the over production of sebum or a bacterial infection. Over production of sebum is caused by the testosterone hormone that is naturally found in both men and women. Underneath our skin we have Sebaceous Glands that produce the oily substance called sebum. In normal circumstances we produce enough sebum to help keep our skin supple and smooth but when too much is produced and then combined with dead skin cells; it can block the hair follicles leading to whiteheads and blackheads.

Red or pus-filled spots can appear when the blocked hair follicles come into contact with the bacteria that normally live on the surface of our skin.

What treatments are there for acne?

There are many pills, creams, lotions and gels available either over the counter or from your medical practitioner that can assist in killing bacteria, unblocking pores and reducing inflammation. A huge majority of these products contain either salicylic acid or benzoyld peroxide to stop blemishes, pimples, blackheads and whiteheads.

Herbal acne treatment creams, however, is different from other products on the market because each herbal ingredient plays a specific role in healing the affected area. It is a natural anti-acne, anti-wrinkle product that assists in the fight against germs whilst strengthening the skin, making it less likely to have a mild acne or wrinkle outbreak. It boosts skin to give a healthy looking glow and brings radiance to the face whilst suppressing the ageing process. Not dissimilar to other acne treatment options you should always read reviews from other customers to ensure the herbal acne treatment product you are interested in purchasing is effective for treating acne or other skin blemishes.
