Gilbert Arenas is one of the most preeminent professional basketball players to be active in the National Basketball Association. He plays as a point guard or a shooting guard for the Orlando Magic. He has been a professional player since 2001, and he has a long list of achievements under his belt. After attending the Grant High School of California’s Valley Glen, Arenas took up on the University of Arizona’s offer late in his junior year. He entered the 2001 NBA Draft and he was picked by the Golden State Warriors as the 31st pick in the second round. He remained with the Warriors until 2003, when he was transferred to the Washington Wizards. In 2010 he also left that team, to go to the Orlando Magic, where he is currently active.

When Arenas started out in the NBA, he dreamt he would go on to play with the New York Knicks and become a celebrity basketball player. With them showing little interest, Arenas went the first round unpicked. It wasn’t until the 31st pick in the second round that the Warriors drafted him and Arenas became their player. He started to gain recognition, and he even won the NBA Most Improved Player Award, won the MVP title in the All-Star Weekend. Following the season that brought him all of these awards, Arenas signed with the Wizards. Rumors have it that he actually flipped a coin in order to make up his mind on which team he would go to.

During his time at the Wizards, Gilbert Arenas was picked in the All Star NBA team three consecutive times (in 2005, 2006 and in 2007), he made the NBA Second team (the highest achievement he has managed to have, in 2007), and he has also made the NBA Third Team (in 2005 and 2006).

During the 2000s, Arenas made a name of himself as a valuable player that knows how to act under pressure. He is famous for his breathtaking last-minute performances when he managed to score winning shots against opposing teams right before the buzzer announced the end of the game. In the 2007-2008 season, he only played for 8 full games due to an injury to his knee that left him incapacitated for most of the season. These injuries would haunt Arenas throughout the 2008-2009 season also. In the following season, he started off with a great performance, but his game play became inconsistent over the following matches. However, he managed to score a record-breaking 45 points against his former team, the Golden State Warriors.

2010 was the year of change for Arenas, as he changed his signature number from #0 to #6, then to #9, and then once again once he was traded to the Orlando Magic, when he chose to have #1.

In his private life, Gilbert Arenas is surrounded by controversy. He was involved in a scandal for storing an unloaded fire arm in his locker at the Verizon Center, and he was charged for carrying a pistol without having a license. So there is lots of celebrity gossip about gilbert arenas. In his spare time, Arenas admits to being a gamer, and has even appeared on the NBA Live 08 video game cover.
