Kung Fu Panda 2’s Tigress Voice Angelina Jolie
Award winning Hollywood actress Angelina Jolie has long been popular in the industry ever since her breakthrough in this career. Being a daughter of an award winning father, Jon Voight is not an easy feat since she has to live up to the pressures and expectations of other people.
Yet, this 35 years old Hollywood actress fared well and has built her own empire. Ever since she became a mother of six, the actress insisted that she has portrayed a much softer personality in Tigress – the tritagonist of the Kung Fu Panda series.
The media harshly labeled the Changeling star Angelina Jolie especially after her blossoming and going strong romance with Brad Pitt which caused the end of Pitt’s marriage to Jennifer Aniston in 2004. Even then, she became even more popular and as the Ambassador of Goodwill for the United Nations became even more compassionate and strong.
She admitted that her portrayal of Kung Fu Panda 2’s Tigress her better since she can relate to the strong will of this animated character. She knows that like Tigress she has struggled in the communication arena of love and warmth as well.
Jolie stated in a statement that she like Tigress’ personality and character as both of them has the same weakness. She said that Tigress is tough and at times didn’t know how to be soft. She further stated that one of the greatest helps she had in this area were her kids. She said that the kids helped her become a little softer since she wraps herself in a hard shell sometimes.
Just to give you a little of a background of the Tigress character, here goes.
Master Tigress is the adoptive daughter of Shifu and because the unofficial leader of the Furious Five as she master the Tiger style of Hung Ga Kung Fu. In Kung Fu Panda 2, her father received news that a villain has devised a very powerful weapon that can destroy Kung Fu. The Furious Five including Tigress and Po should venture out and face the villain to vanquish his threat.
Angelina gave voice to this animated character and said in an interview that Tigress has gone through an emotional change and learned how to be nicer. This has been seconded by co-star Jack Black in a separate interview where he stated that Tigress’ character involves unresolved longing where she holds a secret.
Angelina’s portrayal even made Tigress’ character sparked up and she said her kids had helped her too much on the set while she was working on the sequel’s film. She also stated that the job was very flexible and fun both for her and the kids and the director of the film allows them to be in whatever attire they want or what they want to eat during lunch. She said they ended up eating pizza with kids as snacks.
